25.06.2012 Washing trapped solids from screen mesh

Sweco, Florence, KY, has introduced the MM4 Traveling Spray, an attachment that can continuously or intermittently wash screen mesh free of solids. Typical uses for the MM4 rectangular separator include dewatering cellulose fibres, plastic recycling, kaolin clay dewatering, starch production and general waste stream solids removal. In many of these applications, capacity can be reduced as a result of screen blinding.

A travelling bar, equipped with 21 spray nozzles, moves from side to side, spraying water directly on to the screen mesh to keep the screens clean and to facilitate material transfer. The bar reverses at the sidewalls and travels back over the screen to provide a constant cleaning process. The system is suspended from the stationary sump skid to avoid interference with the vibrating basket. It is equipped with a variable speed drive which allows the operator to optimise the screen deblinding process while minimising water usage. The company’s European head office is in Nivelles, Belgium.
