18.08.2014 Powders in FIBCs protected from weather by PVC-clad structure

Smart Space, Grendon, UK, has supplied a temporary building to Northwich-based Resin Handling Services (RHS) to provide storage for bulk bags containing polymers and other perishable powders. The building provides a storage capacity of over 3600 cubic metres and has a footprint of 15 x 55m. It was supplied to site within two months of the order being placed and was installed in just four days. These temporary buildings are modular in construction with aluminium frames and insulated wall panels.
Roofs are translucent double-skin PVC coated fabric with a variable air gap, adjusted by pressure sensors, to provide thermal protection – winter and summer. Though unheated, the insulated structures protect from the extremes of the winter and summer climate.
Offering bag-to-silo and silo-to-bag storage and distribution services, RHS, which has already ordered a second temporary building from Smart Space, operates 22 silos and sees on average 25 bulk road tanker movements per day from its 4ha site. Clients include Brunner Mond, Solvay, Omya and Ineos. www.smart-space.co.uk
