08.09.2014 Removing difficult-to-detect contaminants from foodstuffs

S+S Separation and Sorting Technology, Schönberg, Germany, will be showing an enhanced version of its RAYCON BULK X-ray product sorting system on Stand 4A-125 at POWTECH, along with magnet systems and inductive metal separators for applications in the bulk materials industry. The company points out that guaranteed raw material purity eliminates dangers for consumers. Perfect product quality also ensures that complete batches of food that may contain contaminants no longer have to be returned and destroyed. Such product recalls are expensive and – what is more important – damaging to a company's image.

“Using X-ray technology, RAYCON BULK solves sorting tasks that cannot be managed by conventional colour sorting systems with camera technology, for example because contaminants have the same colour as good material. The main group of contaminants that are detected by RAYCON BULK are metals, stones, and glass", explained Michael Mohr, head of sales at S+S’s food business unit. Increased belt conveyor speed now makes it possible to reach even higher throughput capacities. www.sesotec.com
