10.11.2014 High containment roll compaction

The Contained Chilsonator System (CCS) roll compaction series from Fitzpatrick Company, Elmhust, IL, incorporates the latest developments in roll compaction, and showcases the company’s newest technology.    Available models range in size from lab to full-scale production units.  The CCS Series is designed to fully contain all product in its processing and receiving sections.  The sealed design allows for the optional product containment system (PCS) to be added at the discharge.  This enables the process area to be operated in an inert environment or kept under partial vacuum to maximise product containment levels, thereby enhancing the degree of safety for both the operator and production facility.
The Fitzpatrick agitated feed system delivers material to the rolls utilising a feed hopper, horizontal feed screw for metering material, as well as a vertical pre-compression screw for de-aeration and transport of feed material to the compaction rolls. The high-speed, vertical, pre-compression feed screw(s) can de-aerate the vast majority of powders very effectively.  Low bulk density powders are able to be conditioned for efficient, uniform density compaction. Fitzpatrick, part of IDEX Material Processing Technologies, is represented in the UK by Ytron-Quadro.  www.fitzmill.com; www.ytron-quadro.co.uk
