17.11.2014 Pipe conveyor replaces drag chain conveyor at cement plant

Beumer Group, Beckum, Germany, has recently supplied a pipe conveyor to replace an old drag chain conveyor at the Bernburg, Germany, plant of Schwenk Zement. The new pipe conveyor is of 200mm diameter and has a length of 230m. It is employed to transport alternative fuels such as crushed plastic material, textiles and paper at a rate of 15t/h from the warehouse to the oven feeding system. The previous drag chain conveyor, which had been employed for more than 10 years, apart from causing high maintenance costs was no longer able to transfer enough bulk material with a density of no more than 0.2t/m³ to feed the main burner. By contrast the dustfree pipe conveyor offers enhanced handling capacity as well as being more energy efficient and environmentally friendly. www.beumergroup.com
