Martin Thomson, who last year joined the Doncaster office of Schenck Process UK, has recently been named director of the company’s light industries international business segment. He assumes responsibility for sales development of the complete portfolio of products of the Germany-based Schenck Process Group for the UK and Ireland in the market sectors of food, plastics, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. He is a graduate engineer with an MSc in bulk powder materials handling and was previously sales director of Kemutec.

Schenck Process UK has its own design and manufacturing facilities as well as a nationwide network of service engineers. Thomson and his team will aim to strengthen existing customer relationships and to gain new business within the above-mentioned market sectors. The Schenck Process portfolio of weighing, feeding, bulk transfer and monitoring equipment has recently been extended to include vacuum conveying systems and air filtration, following the acquisition in February 2011 of Clyde Materials Handling. Schenck Process Group, headquartered in Darmstadt, has over 3200 employees and 33 locations worldwide.
