08.06.2015 Preventing flame and pressure propagation in pipelines

Fike Corp, USA, has introduced ValvEx®, a new passive isolation explosion protection valve for use with dust aspiration and dilute-phase pneumatic conveying systems. It is designed to prevent flame and pressure propagation through interconnected pipes, ducts or conveying lines. "Fike is able to define the dominant explosion parameters that affect flame and pressure propagation in a vented vessel-pipeline system. A correlation between venting parameters and valve performance was found, and Fike has identified conditions under which valves do fail," explained Bob Korn, director of sales and marketing.

"There are trade-offs between efficiency, cost, and pressure drop. We do not want our customers to settle for less, that is why we developed ValvEx," commented Stephen Clegg, the company’s explosion protection product manager. Fike’s European head office is in Herentals, Belgium. www.fike.com/valvex
