14.09.2015 Vacuum dryer has explosion protection capability

AVA, Herrsching, Germany, points out that there is a growing tendency towards use of small, flexible mixers, dryers and reactors for product development and small batch production. The company has in recent months done much to advance this trend. Its newly developed type HTC-D 140 combined sterilisation and vacuum drying machine represents one of the latest innovations in this sector. The unit is heated with thermal oil and is designed both for vacuum drying and sterilisation at pressures up to 4 barg.

The type HTC-D 140 can also be supplied in an explosion-protected version. In this respect AVA, with its expertise in the domain of explosion protection, is in a position to guarantee the machine’s safety in accordance with ATEX guideline 94/9/EG (2014/34/EU from 20 April 2016), matching the zone demands of the customer (1999/92/EG). In operation the rotating agitator moves the product along the heated drum wall. The permanent movement of the entire product results in  homogeneous temperature and moisture. The specific mixing elements ensure an optimal heat transfer between product and drum wall. The result: short drying times which can be even further reduced through vacuum. Moreover, working under vacuum allows the treatment of explosive gases and dusts and the drying of temperature-sensitive products. The device is additionally designed for overpressure (autoclave), which makes it applicable for sterilisation processes. www.ava-huep.com
