01.02.2016 Safe storage of combustible liquids in IBCs

Mauser Group, Bruehl, Germany, has received certification of its SM13 EX UL IBC (intermediate bulk container) design from UL, a global independent safety science organisation based in Northbrook, IL. With this UL certification, the 1000-litre capacity SM13 EX UL will be permitted for storage of some classes of combustible liquids in accordance with NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code.  This certification will allow customers to store combustible liquids using the more efficient IBC concept as opposed to conventional 55 gallon steel drums.

The SM13 EX UL incorporates a variety of innovations. Most notable is the fire-resistant blanket that not only encloses the entire IBC, but also the entire valve. The unit incorporates reinforced steel legs to provide maximum stability in the event of a fire and is also designed with anti-static resin as well as a grounding system to allow the unit to be used in explosive zones 1 and 2. www.mausergroup.com
