Peel Ports Invests £4 million into Digital Strategy
Peel Ports has announced a £4 million (€4.6 million) digital transformation programme for its dry bulk operations, designed to modernise processes, boost operational efficiency, and improve visibility for customers across its UK port network.
The investment will centre on the rollout of advanced digital technologies to enhance cargo handling, planning, and data management for materials including aggregates, cement, biomass, and agricultural bulk products.

The initiative will deliver capabilities such as real-time cargo monitoring, automated reporting, and upgraded terminal operating systems, all intended to increase accuracy and shorten turnaround times for vessels, road transport, and rail movements. According to Peel Ports, the upgrades will also improve collaboration between terminals, customers, and logistics partners, supporting more effective forecasting and informed operational decision-making.
Company representatives said the digitisation programme is expected to drive productivity improvements, reduce reliance on manual processes, and enhance safety by cutting paperwork and limiting the potential for human error.
