Ships pass blockade in Strait of Hormuz
Ships are reported to have transited the Strait of Hormuz, after two ships u-turned yesterday (13th April) due to the US blockade.
A Comoros-flagged bulk grain carrier has “appeared” in the waterway according to marine intelligence company Windward, after its communications went dark on 28th February, hiding its exact location. Despite the US blockade, a handful of ships are reported to have navigated the strait, heading towards the Gulf of Oman. Reports say that the US blockade does not cover vessels that are heading to non-Iranian ports.

UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, and French President Emmanuel Macron will co-host a summit on Friday 17th April with aims to reopen the strait.
Yesterday, two ships turned around, due to the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. The boundaries of the blockade extend to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea, according to the US military. The US Central Command said: “Any vessel entering or departing the blockaded area without authorization is subject to interception, diversion, and capture.”
The blockade is due to ongoing conflict and a failed ceasefire between Iran and the USA.
