KMC has announced a €40 million expansion of its granules and flakes production facility in Brande, Denmark, in response to rapidly rising global demand for potato‑based ingredients.
The investment will significantly increase the company’s capacity for producing high‑quality granules and flakes used across bakery, snacks, coatings, mashed potato products and convenience foods.
The Brande factory, originally commissioned in 2003, has undergone several upgrades over the past two decades.
However, KMC reports that sustained growth in demand for granulated and flaked ingredients now requires a major capacity boost. The expansion, scheduled for completion in autumn 2026, will double granule output while also modernising processing lines, storage systems and supporting infrastructure.
The project includes new production equipment for improved material handling, enhanced process control and greater energy efficiency. KMC says the upgrade will future‑proof the site for additional expansions and strengthen its position as a leading European supplier of plant‑based powdered and granulated ingredients.
CEO Jesper Burgaard said the investment reflects both strong customer demand and the company’s long‑term strategy to scale sustainable ingredient production. The expansion is expected to support continued growth in international food markets and reinforce KMC’s role as a key supplier of functional powders and granulates to manufacturers worldwide.
