Solids handling specialist, Ajax Equipment, has supplied leading powder systems supplier and integrator, Croston Engineering, with a screw conveyor for transferring soda ash. The stainless steel screw conveyor is part of the first phase of a project to increase production.

The new screw conveyor will collect powder from Croston’s system, which includes a cyclone filter, and transfer the material to an Ajax diverter valve while allowing two existing screw conveyors from Ajax Equipment to continue to utilise the diverter valve.

“Ajax were very professional and provided excellent support to us during this challenging project. This installation also had the added complication relating to difficult site access constraints. We are delighted that installation was successful, and the screw conveyor is operating as designed and will certainly utilise Ajax’s skills and experience for projects of this nature in future,” said Antony Leyland, Director/Project Manager, Croston Engineering.

Commenting, Lewis Shaw, senior technical sales engineer at Ajax Equipment, said: “Ajax have worked with this plant on a number of projects and so we were happy to return with Croston Engineering. Handling soda ash is challenging, but we have developed a very good understanding of the material and application over the years through measuring fine properties and extensive experience.”
