Gentle and energy efficient bulk materials handling?
Dense phase pneumatic conveying systems offer a reliable solution for handling bulk materials while preserving product integrity. The Swiss-based Gericke Group is a long-standing supplier in this field, providing systems that integrate control technologies to support process optimisation and energy efficiency.
Designed for applications where material quality must be maintained, dense phase conveying is suitable for transporting powders, granules, flakes, and pellets. It reduces the likelihood of particle degradation, demixing, or changes in bulk density, making it a practical option for industries handling sensitive or blended materials.
The systems use pressure vessels without rotating components, which lowers maintenance requirements and helps prevent metal contamination. They are sealed and dust-tight, reducing the potential for leakage and ensuring cleaner operation compared to dilute phase systems using rotary valves. Operating pressures of up to 6 barg enable high solids loading with relatively low gas consumption, contributing to energy savings and cost efficiency.
Gericke systems can handle conveying distances up to 500 metres and capacities of up to 150 m³/h. Available in carbon or stainless steel, the pressure vessels range from 20 to 5,200 litres and meet standards such as PED 2014/68/EC, ASME, and GB 150.
Applications range from transfer of spray-dried products and transport from mixers to filling lines, to direct reactor loading. Additional capabilities include batch weighing, inert gas conveying, and unloading from road or rail tankers. Gericke offers three conveying modes to suit different process needs, including DenseFlow, PulseFlow, and PulseLine configurations.
