Cablevey Conveyors, a specialist in tubular drag conveying technology, has introduced two new retrofit innovations – CleanDrop and CleanTray – aimed at reducing product loss and improving operational efficiency across bulk material handling operations.

The product launches represent the company’s first major innovations since joining Akona Process Solutions, a newly consolidated group that includes Cablevey, Kason, Marion, and Spiroflow.

CleanDrop targets the issue of carryover – residual material that remains on conveyor discs and bypasses intended discharge points. Developed initially for the coffee sector, the system uses a simple mechanical action to gently dislodge particles within a specially designed tube. Lab tests with ground coffee have shown up to a tenfold reduction in product carryover. The system is retrofittable, requiring only a tube replacement and minimal downtime.

CleanTray, the second upgrade, addresses product loss within the conveyor’s turnaround section. Traditionally a point where material can escape the process flow, the CleanTray system captures and recycles this residual product back into circulation. Its three-piece design ensures smooth movement in sync with the conveyor’s carriage and maintains consistent material flow.

“These are practical, cost-effective upgrades that help processors maximise yield and reduce waste,” said John Adair, new product development engineering manager at Akona. “Importantly, they can be installed into existing systems without requiring a full equipment replacement.”

Already adopted in large-scale coffee processing facilities, both solutions are now available for global order.
