KHS Hamburg Marks 50 Years of Innovation in PET Technology
KHS Hamburg is celebrating 50 years as a key player in the development of PET packaging technologies. Established in 1975 as Gildemeister Corpoplast GmbH, the facility has grown into a vital part of the KHS Group, known for pioneering systems that promote sustainability and resource efficiency.
Among its notable contributions are the first series-produced stretch blow molders and the advanced Plasmax barrier technology. These innovations have helped shape the beverage and packaging industries by improving recyclability and reducing material use. KHS machines today can process up to 100% recycled PET, supporting closed-loop bottle systems and helping customers reduce energy and material consumption.
A standout example is the latest generation of the InnoPET Blomax stretch blow molder, which uses a Double Gate heating system to lower energy costs by up to 40%. This focus on efficiency reflects KHS Hamburg’s broader commitment to sustainable engineering.
The site complements KHS’s wider German network, which includes facilities in Dortmund, Bad Kreuznach, Kleve, and Worms, each contributing expertise in areas such as filling, labeling, packaging, and palletizing.
To meet growing global demand for sustainable PET solutions, KHS is expanding its Hamburg operations with new production areas and R&D facilities. Investment in both infrastructure and skilled personnel remains central to the company’s forward strategy.
“Our employees’ expertise and dedication are crucial to our continued success,” says Kai Acker, CEO of KHS GmbH. “Hamburg will continue to play a leading role in driving innovation for years to come.”
