Schenck Process, Darmstadt, Germany, has introduced the SIMPLEX flat bottom (FB) feeder, a high-capacity stainless steel unit designed specifically to handle materials with light and fluffy characteristics. With a bottom-driven vertical agitator and an auxiliary agitator, the SIMPLEX FB is especially suitable for hard-to-feed materials such as chopped polypropylene or PET plastic film when feeding an extruder, as well as for handling materials such as cellulose, plastic flakes, hemp or carbon fibres. The main agitator runs close to the flat bottom of the feed module to assist the filling of the feed screw and the auxiliary agitator supports product flow at the lower end of the extension hopper.

 

The SIMPLEX FB can be operated either as a volumetric or loss-in-weight feeder. In the latter form, it comes equipped with VKN weighing modules that are either placed beneath the feet of the feeder or directly on the mounting floor.
