03.12.2012 Ointment mixing system delivered to Iraq

BPT Skerman, a subsidiary of Winkworth, Swallowfield, UK, has supplied a fully integrated creams and ointment preparation system to a leading pharmaceuticals provider in Iraq. The system, which was built to comply with GAMP/pharma standards in accordance with Winkworth’s ISO 9001quality assurance accreditation, comprises three jacketed process vessels which are interconnected: phase vessel, wax phase vessel and main preparation vessel. It includes vacuum transfer, high shear mixing, pumps and multi-way valves, contra-rotating scrape wall anchor stirrers, hydraulic column lifts and a cooling system. The central vessel is designed for tilt discharge.
The system was designed for high reliability so that the machinery could be maintained and managed effectively in-house. BPT Skerman’s contracts manager Julian Bradshaw explained: “The entire training process, which included classroom and hands-on sessions covering operation and maintenance of the system, took just under one week with representatives from the major pharmaceutical company coming over from Iraq.” www.bptskerman.co.uk; www.mixer.co.uk
