02.09.2013 Automated dosing/weighing systems increase animal feed production

KSE Process Technology, Bladel, the Netherlands, has won an order to upgrade the factory of Felleskjøpet Rogaland Agder (FKRA), a leading Norwegian supplier of animal feed, fertilisers and agricultural machinery. Prior studies undertaken by KSE revealed that production could be increased by up to 10% by installing new systems into the existing factory, thereby achieving considerable cost savings.

By deploying multiple ALFRA dosing and weighing systems, manual handling of additives and non-automated loading of silos will be significantly reduced. Micro and small components will be dosed respectively from an ALFRA Flexible Component Dosing System and an ALFRA Small Component Dosing System, each capable of accommodating 30 flexible containers. After that the components are vacuum conveyed to an ALFRA check weigher located on an upper floor which, after weight control, directly discharges into the main mixer. A further advantage is that production will be able to continue automatically overnight, allowing staff to concentrate primarily on quality control. The first systems are scheduled to be delivered to Stavanger-based FKRA at the beginning of 2014. www.kse.nl
