19.05.2014 Loss-in-weight flexible screw conveyor

Hapman, Kalamazoo, MI, has introduced a novel flexible screw conveyor that allows for batching of material within +/-0.45kg or less of set point. With load cells built into the frame assembly, the Loss-In-Weight (LIW) Helix® presents a fully automated dosing system that is equipped with programmable logic and system integration tie-in functionality. The flexible screw conveyor carries material to an elevated point at the required flow rate. Once the load cells indicate the flow volume is within 2.27kg (5 lbs) of set maximum, the conveyor is automatically slowed to trickle flow until the required batch volume is reached.

“Often material needs to be transported from a lower, ground-level position to an elevated mezzanine for mixing, cooking, or blending. The batching functionality of the LIW Helix allows for the measurement and automation of a dosed amount of material while conveying simultaneously. This equipment feature offers operating and cost savings because two operations are completed in one piece of equipment,” explained Mike Zeluff, Hapman manager for Helix products. The LIW Helix is available from Hapman’s European headquarters in Opole, Poland. www.hapman.eu

Hapman’s LIW Helix can handle up to 0.425m³/min of material
