26.01.2015 A different method of ingredient delivery

Ingredient Batching Systems, London, UK, has introduced a modular pod system for conveying free-flowing powders or granular ingredients. The pod is a self-contained, batch weighing and metering system that delivers dry powder ingredients directly into a vacuum conveying line and from there to the user’s process, at low cost and with high accuracy. The system is especially suitable for food and pharmaceutical industries where a product may consist of several different ingredients which previously needed to be hand-dosed. This new system can comprise just one pod or any number of pods linked together via a common vacuum conveying line and a central controller.

Product is loaded on to each pod from FIBCs or sacks. The amount of ingredient required is keyed into the central controller or preselected via a recipe control system which allows a highly accurate batch to drop into the conveying line and be transferred to the process. As this is a sealed system, there is no dust pollution risk. Managing director Tim Stewardson, who devised the system, said: “The pod system was originally designed for a client who had specific needs and constraints on the space available, for accurate ingredient delivery in their new factory. We ran a number of tests which proved a level of accuracy and consistency beyond expectations and realised that we had a system that could work well in a number of different industries. The original system is working as well as it did when it was first commissioned and we have recently been awarded some repeat projects.” www.ingredientbatchingsystems.com
