13.07.2015 Moisture measurement for biomass and related applications

INADCO Moisture Measurement, Eersel, the Netherlands, has expanded its range of innovative moisture meters with the recent introduction of the patent-pending Moisturemeter II which has been originally developed for measuring biomass. This instrument allows users to obtain continuous measurements of moisture levels.

This latest moisture meter is a single integrated piece of equipment capable of performing all necessary measurements to be able to process low-quality feedstock. It is built around a conveyor belt and even has an integrated belt scale. As a result the Moisturemeter II can measure biomass while it is being fed into the boiler. This feature in combination with state-of-the-art laser sensor technology for volume scanning, guarantees instant information such as: mass flow, volume flow, flow of dry solids, flow of water, moisture percentage, temperature of the product, total mass, bulk density and real time calorific value of the dry matter. These parameters are available as actual values and as averages and totals within the batch.

A key innovation  is the specially developed moisture sensor which makes the Moisturemeter II the only item of equipment available on the market  also capable of measuring very coarse bulk materials surrounded by pockets of air such as large woodchips, grass, peat and manure: from particle sizes such as sawdust through to French fries and even larger. www.inadco.nl
