14.09.2015 IBCs designed for highest levels of food safety and risk minimisation

Schütz, Selters, Germany, will be exhibiting its new Foodcert and Cleancert intermediate bulk containers on Stand 44 in Hall C3 at Scanpack, northern Europe’s largest packaging show, which takes place 20-23 October in Gothenburg, Sweden. Some 15,000 visitors are expected.

Those from the food and pharmaceutical industries are likely to be interested in the Foodcert model. Based on the system certification in accordance with FSSC 22000, it has been designed to provide comprehensive material, product and process safety, thereby setting new standards for food safety in the packaging industry. Schütz has implemented an extensive range of stringent preventative measures for the production of the new Foodcert IBCs and drums in order to rule out contamination from the very beginning. This means they comply with the significantly higher demands of producers and consumers for safety, and they also go far beyond the usual exclusive focus on use of materials as specified by the FDA standard.

The Cleancert IBC on display is ideally suited for quality-sensitive media where safety and technical cleanliness are essential: e.g. coatings for the automotive industry which are normally only a 10th of a millimeter thick (the thickness of a human hair). Even the smallest speck of contamination will cause craters which compromise the protective function of the coating. Also on display will be Schütz’s integrated IBC impeller which provides contamination-free stirring and the new ECOBULK HX container (both described in EBS News for the week of 20 April 2015). www.schuetz.net

On the Schütz Foodcert and Cleancert line, pre-produced components such as screw caps are hygienically wrapped until required for final assembly; the ECOBULK HX (below) is used for technically clean packaging of viscous and valuable products in the automotive industry
