30.07.2012 Matcon acquired by IDEX

IDEX Corporation, Lake Forest, IL, has taken over UK-based Matcon Group, a global leader in processing systems for high-value powders used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, foodstuffs, plastics and fine chemicals. Much of the company’s technology continues to be based around its original cone valve IBC powder discharge system for which it has become internationally famous. Matcon, with head office in Evesham, Worcestershire, and with offices and test plants strategically located throughout the world, has annual revenues of around £22M.

Commenting on the acquisition, IDEX chairman and CEO Andrew Silvernail said: “We are extremely pleased with the opportunity to add Matcon to the Material Processing Technologies platform of our Health and Science technologies segment. Matcon is a perfect fit for the platform and will join Quadro Engineering, Fitzpatrick and Microfluidics in one of our fastest growing market segments.”

Matcon managing director Charles Lee replied: “We are very excited by the opportunity to become part of the IDEX global family of companies. Through the Material Processing Technologies (MPT) group we see tremendous opportunities to expand our offering of lean powders handling solutions to our customers around the world by combining IDEX’s considerable process applications expertise, product portfolio and global footprint with Matcon’s project engineering and powders handling know-how and technology.”
