New industry research from bulk materials handling specialist Spiroflow points to a rising wave of investment in bulk bag handling equipment, as companies across the industrial processing sector target greater efficiency, reduced downtime, and improved operator safety.

According to Spiroflow’s 2024 State of Bulk Bag Handling report, 77% of industry professionals plan to upgrade or replace their bulk bag handling systems within the next two years. The research also highlights robust sector growth, with 98% of respondents reporting increased activity over the past 12 months, and more than half (52%) experiencing growth rates above 11%.

Efficiency remains a key driver of investment, with 44% of companies seeking to maximise payloads, particularly for materials with lower bulk densities, to reduce transport and storage costs. Maintenance is another priority, with 42% aiming to minimise downtime by installing equipment designed for faster servicing and part replacement.

Operator safety and ergonomics are also influencing equipment upgrades, with nearly one-third of respondents focusing on reducing manual handling risks.

In response, Spiroflow has developed solutions such as its high-speed Cone Table Elite (CTE) Bulk Bag Filler and a new sack tip station designed to improve air quality and handling efficiency – reflecting the evolving needs of bulk handling operations worldwide.
