Schütz and GIE establish JV for Iberia
Industrial packaging specialists Schütz and Gestión Integral de Envases (GIE) have formed a new joint venture aimed at strengthening their presence in Spain and Portugal. The partnership brings together Schütz’s global manufacturing expertise and GIE’s local market knowledge to offer a comprehensive portfolio of sustainable packaging solutions and enhanced customer services across the Iberian Peninsula.
GIE, an owner-managed company with over 30 years of experience, specialises in the reconditioning of industrial packaging, including intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), plastic drums, and steel drums. From its central location in Spain, GIE provides delivery, collection, and cleaning services, operating processes that are both environmentally responsible and highly efficient.
Schütz Ibérica, active in Spain since 1994, operates three modern production sites in Tarragona and Toledo. These facilities manufacture a wide range of packaging products, including IBCs, high-performance plastic and steel drums, and tank systems for drinking water and heating oil. In addition, Schütz Ibérica supports the company’s global Schütz TICKET SERVICE, collecting and reconditioning used packaging to recover high-quality HDPE granulate for reuse in new packaging solutions.
The new joint venture enables both companies to expand their offering of new, reconditioned, and recycled packaging while optimising logistics operations and reducing carbon emissions.

Schütz recently launched a new plastic frame pallet, suitable for the automated transport of IBCs
