ControlAir launches Type 625 Volume Booster for faster, more stable valve actuation

ControlAir LLC has unveiled its new Type 625 Volume Booster, a compact pneumatic relay engineered to deliver faster actuator response and improved stability for control valves used across processing, bulk‑handling and wider industrial applications.
Designed for installation between a valve positioner and pneumatic actuator, the booster increases airflow to shorten positioning time and sharpen valve responsiveness.
Its fixed deadband and adjustable bypass valve allow operators to make small downstream adjustments without opening the main booster valve, supporting smoother, more controlled movement. This also enables field tuning of dynamic performance to suit different actuator sizes and process conditions.
The Type 625 provides a 1:1 signal‑to‑output pressure ratio and supports supply and signal pressures up to 150 psig (10 bar).
High forward and exhaust flow coefficients of Cv 1.5 deliver strong filling and exhausting capability, helping actuators respond more rapidly to control signals. Output accuracy is rated at 1% of a 100 psig span, with hysteresis limited to 1%, ensuring consistent and repeatable performance in demanding environments.
Compact and flexible, the booster features 1/4‑inch NPT connections for signal, supply and output, weighs around 1.25 lb, and can be mounted in any orientation. It is offered in Standard, Low Temperature and Expanded Temperature configurations, covering operating ranges from –62°F to 284°F, making it suitable for harsh or extreme conditions.
ControlAir says the Type 625 is suited to both diaphragm and piston actuators and is ideal for process control valves, oil and gas systems, chemical processing, power generation and industrial automation. Its adjustable bypass helps minimise overshoot or hunting, supporting stable valve control where precise flow regulation is essential.
Based in Amherst, New Hampshire, ControlAir manufactures precision pneumatic and electro‑pneumatic controls for markets including process control, semiconductor production, medical equipment, robotics, automotive systems and industrial machinery.
