Crafters Polypropylene Packages (Pvt) has set a new production benchmark in Pakistan’s woven polypropylene (PP) sack industry, achieving an unprecedented output of 11.3 million ADSTAR block‑bottom cement sacks in August 2026 —all produced on just two Austrian‑engineered conversion lines supplied by Starlinger & Co.
The Karachi‑based manufacturer had already reached 11 million sacks in July, but surpassed its own record only a month later. The achievement underscores the performance and reliability of Starlinger’s ADSTAR technology, which has become a global reference point for precision sack production.
“Our Starlinger conversion lines run 24/7 at their nominal speed of 140 sacks per minute and are only stopped for roll changes or essential works,” said Muhammed Ali Rashid, CEO of Crafters.
The company operates a fully integrated woven PP production plant equipped exclusively with Starlinger machinery — from tape extrusion and weaving to coating, printing and final sack conversion on two adstarKON HX lines.
Since launching ADSTAR production in 2023, Crafters has manufactured nearly 365 million sacks, an exceptional output for a two‑line setup.
According to Starlinger’s AD*STAR product manager, David Grabenweger, the record is a direct result of Austrian engineering precision.
“Every production step — from tape extrusion to weaving, coating, printing and block‑bottom conversion — must run flawlessly. Only technically perfect equipment, combined with skilled operators, makes such performance possible.”
During the record months, Crafters reported an impressively low waste rate of just 2.5% across the entire process.
Rashid attributes this to the fine‑tuned interaction of Starlinger’s machinery. “Starlinger looms have the lowest fault rate in the woven PP sector. Their consistent fabric quality ensures smooth downstream processing with minimal interruptions. The high degree of automation also makes sack format changes fast and efficient. We are now aiming for 12 million sacks per month.”
Crafters supplies AD*STAR sacks primarily to Pakistan’s cement industry, including Lucky Cement.
Despite weighing as little as 65g for a 50kg filling volume, the sacks deliver exceptional strength, with Lucky Cement reporting break rates of just 0.07%, far below kraft paper alternatives. The precise Austrian technology behind AD*STAR ensures uniform sack geometry and valve placement—critical for fast, trouble‑free filling on modern cement lines—cementing Starlinger’s role in Crafters’ record‑breaking success.
