Borger has completed the installation of a new pump and maceration system for a processing facility converting mixed food residues into a uniform, compost‑ready material.
The configuration — comprising an auger, grinder and rotary lobe pump — provides controlled movement and size‑reduction of challenging, acidic waste streams, ensuring consistent flow and dependable handling.
Built around Borger’s Maintenance‑In‑Place design philosophy, the bespoke unit offers straightforward servicing and significantly reduced downtime.
By macerating solids to a tightly controlled particle size, the Borger Multicrusher produces a homogenous slurry that supports stable, efficient pumping — a key requirement for processors handling variable solids such as pellets, grains and other free‑flowing materials.
Borger’s macerators and pumps are also widely deployed across biogas and AD facilities. At the Creed Integrated Waste Management Facility on the Isle of Lewis, a Multicrusher reduces a 7‑tonne batch of waste salmon per shift, reliably achieving the mandated maximum particle size of 12 mm for safe digestate use as renewable fertiliser.
Similarly, at three Singleton Birch AD plants in Northern Lincolnshire, four Borger rotary lobe pumps form an essential part of the feedstock preparation line, handling maize, sugar beet and chicken litter with the controlled, low‑shear pumping required for pelletised and granular materials.
